Magazine Advert Drafts

We decided not to use this as our magazine advert as there wasn't enough information included and it was very bland and had lots of empty space on the picture. The writing was also rather difficult to see so we decided against using this for our magazine advert.

We all agreed that this magazine advert was an improvement from the previous one, however we still didn't think it should be our final advert. We decided that the picture should be changed as this is the same as our digipak front cover and they both looked similar. By researching online we saw that we needed some more information (such as a review) and usually the artist it looking into the camera on magazine adverts so we decided not to use this advert and create another one. However, we liked the font used so we kept the same font.

Magazine Advert Moodboard

This moodboard shows some of the ideas we had when thinking about what we wanted our magazine advert to look like. We decided to look at some popular artists magazine adverts and the way theirs were set out. We particularly liked Lana Del Rey's magazine advert as well as Rihanna's. Looking at other artists magazine adverts made us realise that the focus of the advert is the artist with minimal information on it so that helped us when it came to planning the advert as we knew that we needed to focus mainly on the image/s we wanted to use. We then thought about what our music video was about and the story and we got our ideas from there. The majority of our music video is set in London so we included pictures of London in the moodboard as it would make sense to link the advert to the music video. The song is called Golden Light so we thought it would make sense to include golden colours and images that connote gold. We also thought it could be useful to maybe include the colour blue as the first shot of our music video is the artist singing whilst wearing a blue shirt with blue sky in the background so the colour blue sticks in your head. The front of our digipak features a picture of the artist in the same location as the first shot, wearing the same blue shirt so we thought if we include blue on the magazine colour it would link the two products together.

Our Digipak Template

For our digipak we will plan it based on this template. From the template we know that we have to decide on a front and back cover as well as three inside designs and a design for the CD.
